I have set up a spreadshirt shop, I'm uploading my products, but I see something I do not like, If I want different coloured t-shirts, I have to make separate products I would prefer if the buyer can set the colour, they can set the size or quantity, why not colour, say if I had 500 designs, 500 shirts if you like, and each one could be on 5 different colour shirts, I have to list 2500 'different shirts' professional clothing stores do not do this, you specify the colour, the best of these will also change the t-shirt image.
What can we do, I don't want to have 5 different listings for 1 product just so I can have different colours, I want one list image, then select the colour, I thought perhaps a premium shop may have the option, I haven't got one yet, I asked support what the advantage was and didn't see a whole lot of difference, only that you can upload more images and have spreadshirt removed from stuff and a logo on an invoice.
Whats the deal here, whats the options for different colours of the same shirt.
Just an update on this Free Color Selection Feature. Now when the customer changes the color of the shirt, the basket preview will show the correct color for the shirt color they selected!
I know I'm bringing up an old topic, but is there anyway to have only certain colors available? I want to de-select a few. I have a design in black and would like to not have dark shirts available, like black. Although it would be funny if someone ordered one in black on black...
No there is not a way to deselect certain colors from showing when you select the Free Color Selection. All available colors of that product would be available for the customer to choose from. If you have particular designs you do not want dark colors for, then you would need to create the products you want to have available for that design.
We just released a new feature where you can clone a product, so if the product is already created, you can click to clone it and the product will load in the Designer. You would then be able to change the shirt color and add that addition to your account. You can also edit a product, so if the placement is too high, you want to allow the customer to change the text on the shirt and forgot, etc, then you can click to edit the product and make the changes.
Thanks Temple! I have another question that's a bit off topic... Is there any way to create design categories? I have the basic shop and I'm trying to decide if I want to go with the premium...
At this time, design categories are not an option, but that is something we are working on providing, so you can create design categories in the future.
Yes, we do offer the ability to create categories for your designs through a Designer shop. With our Classic shops, you can create product categories for the products you create and add to your shop and now the Designer shop allows you to create your own design categories for your designs. You can read the details in this FAQ.

When I go to "My Products" and I edit the product. I chose white, because I wanted that to be the display color instead of blue that I had innitially set. But after editing that, it won't allow customers to change the color! It took me a long time to find that option you speak of "free color selection," and I finally found it under "Details" after about an hour of searching. But I see that it IS checked, yet my customers still can't select the color of the tshirt! Please help soon!

Most likely the problem is that your image is a digital image. Right now, our Digital Printing for white and colored apparel is separate, they both use Digital Direct for the print method, but print on colored products first prints a layer of white, while printing on white products the white layer is not printed. Since the methods are different, they are currently separated and therefore when activating the Free color selection only white apparel shows when the design is on a white product and only other colored apparel shows when activated for a digital on colored apparel.
We are currently working on changing this behavior though, hopefully in the next couple weeks. Once the behavior is changed, then if you design a digital print on white or colored apparel and activate the Free color selection, then all colors would be available, as it is with plot printed designs. The printing technique would remain the same, of course, i.e. colored prints would still get the white printed first, while whites would not, it would just be a change in the behavior of how the Free Color Selection works with digital prints. Once this change is closer, then we will be sending a newsletter to all shop owners, letting you know, so look for that in the coming weeks.
