Exclamation How do i do multi colors?

ok im kind of a noob. but i have my own set up and everything. i have mastered how to silkscreen a one color design!
but i now want to do a 2 color design!!!!!!!

i have the PS down and my design is ready... i think?

here is image. (click to enlarge)

my question is how do i apply the ink?
do i put the yellow then cure it slightly then apply the black over it?

or do i do the yellow with the areas for the black missing so the black fits in perfectly like a puzzle?

im kinda confused.

please help!

I assume you have a multi-color press ? Also the design is a three color design (if you made the banana the same color as the peel)

lol so i fully understand you have 4 screens and no press ? if you really dont have some type of press you can do that design but it will be really really difficult.

oh okay, i have heard as a type of rule of thumb is to do the print with less design first. like you would print the black first. flash it, then line up the yellow to fit.
hope that helps

then there you go. if anything it can be trial and error until you figure out the best way to do it.

I will do yellow first and then black .
My opinion is,
Print light colors first and then Dark colors last.

I agree. Rule of Thumb is to print light to dark. You could manually separate your colors in photoshop by selecting a color with the wand tool Select>Similar (tolerance between 40-50) then Layer>New>Layer Via Cut. do that with the yellow. then select all of your black with the wand proceeding to Select>Similar and then Select>Expand 2 or 3 pixels & fill with black. That way if your Registration is off a hair it will still print seamlessly.

PS. Where the colors touch one another you're going to need to Flash after yellow then print your black.

Hope this helps.

Gabe

Yeah. Just like puzzle pieces. You could do the yellow as a bas coat for the entire image. I actually noticed a shirt I have the other day was done that way. When I took it off I noticed inside the shirt the whole design was red but in reality the design was black text with red outline. So they simply printed an entire red plate, flashed & printed black fill over it.

Doable but in my mind a waste of ink + it makes your print thicker giving it that "bulletproof" feel.
