What is the difference between discharge SOFTENER and WETTING AGENT?
The WestixOnline.com descriptions are freaking identical. wtf?

Both allow you to push discharge ink thru higher mesh counts.
Both help keep the ink wet.

Surely there is a difference between the two?

I honestly have never been able to tell a difference between the two.

Do you use both or just Softener?

We have both, but we usually use just the softener 5% for most wb ink 10% for discharge white.

Btw, how do you thin out 'matsui water based discharge white'?
Do you use water like normal wb inks?

We don't thin out any inks with water. With discharge white we use 10% softener, 5% fixer, 8% discharge agent. With custom discharge colors we mix the discharge base with pigments, then 5% softener, 5% fixer, 8% discharge agent. For normal waterbased inks, we use ready to print colors, or base mixed with pigments for custom pantone matching 5% fixer and 5% softener. We only use softener if it is a fairly large run. It helps keep the ink from clogging the mesh on large runs.
