Is there a difference in pricing for "Contract Screen Print" vs just "Screen Print". Forgive me if that's a stupid question..
We do embroidery in-house, and we outsource our screen printing. However, we're getting a screen print setup to do it in-house, and I'm just wondering about pricing.
Our screen printer has a price list that says "Contract Screen Printing Pricing", just wondering if that's any different (lower) than what they would charge someone else (someone who doesn't intend to resell the way we do)..
Contract is pricing for you, Other pricing is retail which is pricing for their retail customers. contract is normally a percentage off of retail. you can charge your customers his retail pricing and you will make a profit off the contract pricing.
Contract printers are also known for selling printing only. For example, a promotional company will buy the shirt and print it in house (usually) and then sell it as a finished good.
A contract printer does not deal with purchasing t-shirts; It is the client's job to purchase and ship to the printer.
One other option is the "one stop" screen printer. They source the goods for you and do the printing as well. Makes it a bit easier on the distributors with lower shipping costs and one P.O.

That's basically what we're trying to, be the one-stop shop where they pick out the garment, give us the design and so forth..

My question would be if you are a contract printing normally but you have a customer that needs you to purchase the garments; how would you price that out? Add a % to garment and price but what is the typical %?

It really depends on the vendor. I worked for a company that added 35%... The best way to do it is send the contract printer the shirts yourself, because they can't mark them up. If you don't have a resale cert, ask a buddy
