We did a cool job yesterday that I would like to share, we were pleased with how it came out. 7 color spot process done with accurip, r1800, richmond screen maker exposure unit, newmans 200-230 mesh, kiwo one-coat emulsion, wilflex top colors and qcm xolb 158 white on a 10 color RPM Revolution automatic press.
We were given a t-shirt that was printed by someone else to try and duplicate. We didn't try to duplicate the exact colors because the way the shirt was printed originally would be difficult to reproduce because it was not printed how most of us would have done it. It looks like the yellow was used as an underbase and probably 2 or more coats of each color, flashed and then 2 or more strokes per color. I haven't really seen a print like it before and instead of trying to copy it exactly, we did it our way, with our techniques and inks we had on the shelf.
First pic, the shirt on the right was what we were given and the left one is our product, with an underbase. In the second pic, ours is on the right, we didn't use the underbase on the light brown shirt just to see what it looked like. This job setup easily and didn't take much tweaking besides getting it registered just right. The job consisted of about 5 different color shirts and we printed some of lightest shirts without the underbase, making it a 6 color.
