New printer and long time forum reader but first post.
We have just started printing and have an order that includes toddler sizes (6mo, 12mo, 18mo, 2T, 4T, etc.). We have standard 15" x 15" platens on our press. My question is do I need to get a different size platen to print the smaller shirts or can I just lay the whole shirt on top of the platen and print it?
I know it is probably not the best option but I hate to order a different size platen just for this order not knowing actually how many toddler sizes we expect to sell.
You can try it and see what your results are. There's no rule that says you can't do it as long as it's just 1 color printing. You are going to have registration problems on a multi-color or flash job.
I am not a screen printer but I thought maybe what I do with dtg printing might help I raise the print area of the tshirt or onesie on the platen. I use cardboard, or cut mouse pad and tape it to my platen, then lay the garment on top and secure it down. I am not sure if this will work for screen printing, but hopefully it might
