Trouble getting a solid spot color film from photoshop. (It keeps printing halftones instead)
I'm trying to create a normal solid two-color seperation from photoshop cs4. I have created the two different color channels and selected them and printed. When I do print them (through accurip) they come out as dot patterns. In the spot channel options in photoshop I have the solidity at 100%. What am I doing wrong?

Well I thought about that, but then I run into issues with the ink being dark enough. It can work sometimes, but if the color is such that it is printing a dot pattern in accurip I don't think it will print very dark direct to printer. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

you need to ensure the color or layer is a solid 100% color...sometimes photoshop will put 90% color ...not 100%...I just ran into this same situation the other day...I was printing films and my black type was getting screened when printing to accurip...I was scratching my head because I thought I filled the type layer with black...I actually did but photoshop filled it with 90% black...and accurip screened it because it wasnt 100% black to begin with.....
moral - always check the % of color before sending to accurip

Inked
Thanks! This might sound dumb, but how exactly do I check that? (I'm used to doing seps in illustrator) I have the channels set as pantone spot colors with their solidity set at 100%

select the layer you want to check and put your mouse over the color you want to check and in the upper left corner there should be a panel that has the details .
