We are having issues with our R8100. We are trying to print a job that has a large text and solid areas and they are printing out with lines and streaks. We replaced all the inks and bad but they are still there. Any ideas on how to fix this?

the test pritn with the boxes i neach color seemed ok.
i do have all the other colored inks in the printer. streaky, as if it is not putting down enough ink. very see through. It may work on a 110 screen but on a 250, i will have some problems.

the main point is that the ink we would get from US Screen would work fine. it is just the epson ink we use that causes problems. is there a different setting or thickness that would work?

This does matter. You should be getting all lines printing with no breaks. Even one or two breaks can and will effect your print. If you are printing through a RIP, then the 4th image over is your matte black and is the channel it will print from. If there are any breaks in that at all, this is the problem. You can do a simple clean by pushing in the ink button for 3 seconds or run it through your utility (preferred).

Not sure. The US screen inks were dye based and the Epson are Pigment based. I've noticed streaking when mixing, but it was more of a wavy pattern and not dropped jets. The waviness was showing a mixing of the inks. Do you have a scanned image of your films?

I avoid those streaks in solid areas - especially black - by turning off "Hi Speed Printing" and/or printing at a higher photo quality. Usually just turning off Hi speed will do the trick.
