Default beveled/embossed seperations

how do you seperate an image like this, would it be 2 screens?

3 likely, hard to say without seeing it up close. Dark Gold, Light Gold, Black/shadow.

ok, it will be on a black shirt so i wont need a screen for the shadow

yes, the complete logo has some red in it so i figured i would need a white base

I would still print a black. The image posted is pretty small and when you create your plates / seps there will be a lot of halftones which will restrict you to a smaller halftone size 55 or higher in order to get a good smooth reproduction in the print.

I would print

white
lt gold
gold
black

since you say there is red put it before or after the gold depending on how much red is in the design.

as they didnt want to pay for the extra ink and screens, i removed the embossing and just going to print the plain text.......its funny how the extra cost scares the customer somtimes and how they think it shouldnt cost any extra

well you could have gotten away printing White, Gold and black. Using halftones on the black plate to get the beveled look. This would require 196/230 mesh frames and most likely reducing your inks a tad yet would work just fine.

and yes price always effects every job. its a pita because it can turn a awesome job into a plain jane
