Please help - urgent
I have a job that needs to be done by tomorrow. I am a beginner. I have coated my screens and let dry for 2 hrs. Burn my image into my screen for 4 minutes under a 500 watt halogen light.
Then.....
I spray a mist from a spray bottle on both sides, let stand for one minute.
Then....
After a min, i go to wash out the image and then most of the emulsion washes out.
Please help, what must i do, i coated 5 other screens and i don't want this to happen again. What's going on with this?

LET ME REPHRAZE.....
You see if my image washes out fine, then I say my emulsion washes off too... so in this sense, it all washed out fine........ why can't the emulsion just stay on the screen and let my image be....
Because you didn't burn it long enough. A 500W halogen takes much longer than other light sources, because it puts out less UV light than say, a metal halide bulb.
UV light will make the emulsion harden except in the areas that your positive covers.
You will have to experiment to get decent results with vellum and a 500W halogen. However, it's going to be a while, I would start at 15 mins and see what happens. You will know when you are getting closer, as the image will wash out and the outside will stay, but the edges will be soft and will curl up. If you burn a bit longer than that, you will be close to a correct burn time.
However, depending on what printer you are using, you may end up chasing yourself in circles if the black printing is not dark enough. I recommend getting some transparencies.
LOL Solmu, indeed. What we have here, is a failure to communicate.
i've been printing since xmas and use non branded emulsion with 500w halogen with glass cover removed for approx 5.30-6.00 mins. at a height of 22 inches from lamp to screen and have no problem. its a case of trial and error to what works right for you as the other people have said. hope this helps.
