ok guys i just started doin some screen printing and tried to do expose my first design and after exposing when i go to wash out the exposed image my emulsion starts coming off the screen. i tried to burn the image few times with few different settings in time and still same thing. i use halogen light of 500 watts.
first i did it for 5 min then 8 min then 10 and 12 minutes. evertytime is same. so what am i doin wrong please help
after exposure i gently wash the screen in cold water, then pressure wash the screen, then the emulsion should then start to wash out from the area where your design has been quite easily. i use a 500w halogen with safety glass removed 22 inches above screen for approx 5.5-6.00 mins, i use a non branded emulsion. unfortunatly it is trial and error until you find the right exposure which works best for you. hope this helps.
Sounds like it's not being exposed long enough. You may need to switch your emulsion. some work with certain kinds of light. do some research on different kinds. Also when I had a homemade exposure I kept the safety glass on an would shoot the screen for 30-45 min depending. Yeah its a long time but they would come out perfect. Also with the cover on I wasn't worried about starting a fire. Those bulbs blow all the time and can easily start a fire.
