Default A couple notches in my scoop coater

Got a couple notches in my scoop coater, so when I coat a screen, I get some sharp lines in the emulsion. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Some tape on the edge? Coat the edge with some emulsion and let it dry/expose?

super fine sandpaper very lightly would do the trick.

Great, thanks guys.
Think maybe I would have better luck with wet sandpaper?

Hi Ishmael

If you haven't done it already.......

Before wet sanding at 400g or finer, fill the nick with "Bond-O" and sand that down to the original edge-level instead. You're less apt to sand a curved depression into the rest of the coater edge trying to get the nick out.

Another weird thing I saw was a piece of metal molding from a door or window that had been cut to size and epoxied in place inside an old dinged coater, ontop of the old edge.

Screen printers are some of the most resourceful folks I've ever met.

Both of these methods can extend a damaged coaters life until you should really consider replacing it.

Happy trails!
