Default Practical emulsion

Hello, I am very new to screen printing and am looking for some advice. I bought the Diazo Starter Kit and was very content with the results but with the meager amount is starting to run out. I use water based inks and was looking into ProChem SWR-3, Ulano QTX, Ulano TZ, or just more Diazo emulsion. I'm looking for something economical and well as effective. I only intend to print onto textiles (if that even matters).

Any input is appreciated and if you use another emulsion not listed that you are very happy with let me know. I'm not opposed to another one that I don't know about if you can back up your claims.

......follow your contentment and intuition.

Of the emulsions you mentioned, the TZ and the SWR-3 are water-resist dual-cures (diazo in the little bottle). Either works very well if processed correctly. Not meant to be a sales post, we recommend Murakami HV and diazo, but most emulsion manufacturers have products in the same class. Kiwo SWR is another good one.

Ask your current screen print supplier to suggest and give you a sample to test. They usually will if you're an ongoing customer. We do.

I've never been a fan of QTX, but that's just my opinion.

Happy trails!

Default Re: Practical emulsion

I just recently started using Rutland's WB series inks, all with discharge base and the emulsion that was recommended to me was Chromaline CP Tex diazo emulsion. Does a great job with halftones and works well with the water based inks. The only con I can think of is it's reclaimability. I have to use a High pressure sprayer to reclaim the screens. I had gotten used to Chromaline's UDC2 which reclaims very easy and the pressure washer was just an option.
