Default Dark letters w/ white trim on dark shirt

Hi Folks,
I posted the below on the graphics page by accident (had an earlier graphics question) and didn't get a response. Realized my screen printing question would be better answered here. Did a search for my answer and didn't seem to get my questioned answered.

Love to get some ideas on the best way to proceed with printing a white trim (ie touching the dark letters) against dark letters. My believe is having my white layer slightly inside the dark and the dark printing right on the shirt instead of on top of a white base coat. The shirt itself is purple with black letters and a white trim. I'm guessing that if the positives line up well and my registration is right I should be fine. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks ahead. Joe

Hi Joe,

I would print black first then white on top of that. I'd also print it wet on wet (no flashing.) If your whites aren't coming out bright enough, I'd do the described process, then flash, then print white again. Don't worry about overlapping the colors if you are printing white over black with plastisol.

Good luck!

I would definitely print white first then black. Depening on how good your equipment and films are you could do butt registration or put a 1 point outline on the white. W wouldprobably PFP on the white.

You almost always want to print your light color first as the darker color will give better coverage over the lighter color than vice versa. If you do go wet on wet you will not want the colors to touch as you will be unable to alternate your print order. Another option could be to inset your black the same distance as the thickness as your white ultimately making it a three color number.
