Default Curing water based with a Heat Press

I have a Phoenix Phire. I use it for transfer based tees. I just purchased a 4 color silk screen press. I was wondering if I could use my Phoenix Phire to cure water based silk screening without getting a flash dryer. If not the Phoenix, can I use my oven?

Water based inks by the way.

You won't need to cure water based inks at all. They will air dry. Once all the water is out of the ink it is "cured". Even though cured is not really the right word as "dried" would be better.

You will want to be careful when stacking them. If you want you can flash it just a bit at the end of the print and then stack it once it is dry to the touch. Let them sit out for awhile and they will be fine.

Well that's good news. Thank you.

You will want to heat set waterbased inks. Yes you can press them with your heat press. It's actually better to heat press them VS using a flash dryer. You want to evaporate all of the water. Of course using a conveyor dryer is always best though.

Okay, should I let them air dry until they are dry to the touch and then press them to evaporate the rest of the water?

Thanks

Yes you can use your heat press, yes it is better to let them air dry first.

What Jeffrey posted is wrong - air dried is not air cured (unless you add an air curing agent to the ink), and waterbased ink still needs to be cured.
