Default Globs of ink on image

Can someone explain to me how and why you get globs of ink after pressing the squeegee across the image? I don't know what I am doing, I am flooding the screen and them applying pressure with a squeegee at 80 degrees and I still get ink running under the screen causing awful splatters ruining my image. I'm using water based paints.

What brand ink are you using?

How is the ink splattering? It takes a lot for silkscreen ink to splatter. Is your screen to far away from the garment and the ink is splattering when the screen pops back from the shirt?

I was using Versatex, and I think my screen might be too far from the fabric. I can say it was at least 1/4", too far right?

On waterbase you want almost no off contact. You are press the ink to wrap the fibers not lay on top like you do with plastisol.

Thanks! I will try to cut back on the off contact. My only worry is the ink will not adhere to the fabric but stay on the mesh, I had this problem my first attempt.

try using 1/8" as your off contact. Like studdog said you don't want very much but you do want some.
