Default New to screen printing, possible problems?

Hi everyone, i am recieving my screen printing equipment next week to start screen printing, i have watched endless videos on youtube etc. and understand the methods, but is there anything i should know that you possibly can't tell from a video, or any possible problems i could face. Anything will be helpful, from preparing the screen to flash drying. Thanks in advance

Hi.

Dont forget to do the mirror image process, we had a bit of a problem with that when we first started out lol, erm also get a big enough contianer so that if you need to clean the screen you can let the screen get soaked in.

Good Luck.

I'm just starting out as well. I've yet to order my supplies but I'm in the process. Please let me know if you find any problems just starting out as we are in the same boat my friend.

John was in a good mood today and was just kidding you.
You will need some sort of container to clean your screens after youre ready with your printing.

Must be a full moon or something today.

Don't get confused by Adam's comments.

1. You don't need to mirror image your design. I guess what he is talking about is making sure you place the film on the screen correctly. The videos you watched showed you the correct to do this.

2. You don't need a dip tank to clean your screens. In fact, if you are using wood screens you don't want them soaking in anything due to warping issues.

If you are using platisol ink, you want to clean the screens like they show in the videos by scraping off excess ink and putting it back in the container. Then use screen cleaner to get the rest of the ink off. This uses a lot less chemicals than a tank anyway.

Even by watching all of the videos, there is nothing like taking even a 4 hour class on the basics. That's what i did. Check your local art supply stores.

Finally, not sure which videos you have been watching, but Ryonet makes some excellent videos that are posted on youtube YouTube - Ryonet's Channel
