Default Emulsion Question

I was wondering, what would be a better Emulsion for Nazdae water ink.

Murakami ST300 or ULANO 925WR?

Which one would be a faster dry, faster exposure using a 500watt hallogen light and and easier washout?

thanks

Default Re: Emulsion Question

You have just asked a near impossible question to answer.

What's your coating thickness within 0.1 microns? Whats the temp and humidity of the location you're storing the screen to dry?

Without knowing these exact variables you could never figure out which will dry faster. These all play in to the process of the emulsion drying and "curing" on your screen.

My personal recommendation is the Ulano 925WR. Ulano emulsions are in my opinion the best. I've never had any issues with exposure or anything that wasn't user error. Also they provide great technical support from their website and e-mail response. The TechData sheets on the Ulano website will have estimate exposure times for different exposure methods based on three different coating methods.

The 500 Watt exposure is not going to be on the list as that's a non-standard peice of equipment for exposure. It's basically just a work light with a 500watt bulb right? I've seen them online.

The best way for you to determine proper exposure is either to buy an exposure calculator or do a step-wedge test. If you look around on the forums you'll probably find links and more information about the step-wedge, or check out Ulano's site.

Easy washout is based on how good(dense) your positive was, and how properly exposed the screen was. Bringing in a whole-nother set of variables.

So in short, there isn't any way to figure out which one will be faster to expose or easier to washout because it's all based on multiple variables and the weather/humidity of your location.

Sorry I can't give you a straight up answer. You'll have to do some testing from here on out.
