When do you know that the ink has gotten "hot enough" Do you put the heat gun on high and just swarm over the design for a few minutes? Also, can it get too hot and melt the design?

Im presuming you mean to spot cure inks in between clours?
in Industry a flash cure unit is better, but the ol' heat gun will work just as well, dont get it too close to the garments though, they put out a fair bit of heat

I never used a heat gun before but when i cure my ink i bought a Temp gun from sears. Whether i use my dryer or my flash cure i make sure I cure the ink to the temp the manufacture recommends and with the laser temp gun i can make sure its correct. They run from $50 plus

get a temp gun from harbor freight. costs like $20. ink must reach 300-320 all the way through for full cure.
