Default What does Phase 1 and Phase 3 mean in dryers?

Whats the difference a 1 phase dryer and a 3 phase dryer? What does phase mean?

single phase regular 110v power. Same as in your home. 3 phase is like having 3 plugs all single phase needed to run the same one piece of equipment. 3 phase is a special set up that you have to get professionally installed first by your local power company and then by an electrician. It is for high powered equipment. it is very expensive 1- to get installed and 2 - to run because you become a higher tiered business electrical consumer.

I have 3 phase power at my shop. I run a 48" 3 phase dryer, a 220volt 24" dryer, a 220 volt flash dryer, a 110 volt flash dryer, a 220 volt automatic press and a 3 ton and 5 ton a/c here in south louisiana and my electric bill is under 300.00 per month.

the power to your house is called single phase 240v. i make my own three phase power with a 20hp rotary phase converter. i think all the stuff to make it was about 1500$. stan
