If I (or the customer) were going for cheapest/ easiest to print:
1. white
-or-
1. white
2. gray or metallic silver
-or-
1. white - underbase and highlights, twice maybe
2. metallic silver - covers all but white highlights, including the black parts
3. black - a halftoned screen of the grayscaled image layed on top
If i (or the customer) were going for highest retail value, fancy, more difficult printing:
1. white - gradients/halftones, underbase for metallic silver
2. gray - gradients/halftones
3. metallic silver - for the solid brushed-metal body
4. black - "technics" and other solid black details to make them more readable and glossy
5. puff black - for the slip mat to give it a realistic texture
6. gloss white - highlights
I also would be interested in how others would sep this one.
i'd like to see pics of this when done. i've got a design i'll be using for an event later in the year using a few greys to get good transitions.
with that being said, i'll throw in my underqualified opinion!
barely grey
lt grey
med. grey
dk. grey
darker grey
white hilite, hit 2x
use 230 mesh for all
this will fill up a 6 color manual, you could lose 2 greys to keep from killing your arms
better yet. discharge the 3 middle greys and print a highlight white on top.
Wilfex is making a new silver that I've been able to get through high mesh counts.I didn't know about it until my supplier shipped me the wrong silver. Can't tell you what its called off the top of my head.Just wanted to let you know Mike.
