Default Weatherproofing your pallet

I am thinking of putting a weatherproofing wood finish on a piece of wood I will be using for a platen. Will this work to protect my platen from water based screenprinting ink, and will this have any effect on the water based platen adhesive I use, or will I still be good to go?

You may have better success making the platens out of melamine. The kind used for countertops. It's sold in sheets at HomeDepot or Lowes. The plastic top will keep the water from penetrating the platen. It's cheap and easy to work with. Just trace your existing platens and mark the bracket holes on the bottom. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Wishing you success!

Heat will warp melamine,

I have lots experience making large , hoody, sleeve, and more pallets.

Out of aluminum, and melamine. Melamine has a short life span, flashing it makes it warp. BUt its cheep.

If your serious, the aluminum is the way to go. I bought a sheet for 300$ and made a WIDE array of pallets for my M+R chameleon. If I bought from action, I would be broke! But a little DIY< and you can save money.

GOod luck!
