New to make a shirt with real fine detail..Need help!
Im working on a shirt that has real fine detail in the image..Its two different colors and im using the silk screening method to produce the shirts..can someone tell me what mesh count i should use to make all the fine detail come out when im doing the wash out??
Re: New to make a shirt with real fine detail..Need help!
I just used a 200 mesh to print a shirt with pretty fine detail today. It was pretty difficult to wash out some of the real fine details. If I had to do it again I would have used a 230 mesh. Sometimes you just need to experiment to get it right.

So basically get the highest mesh possible for finer detail?
Basically yes. It's a balance between mesh count, emulsion, light source, exposure time, and ink through the screen. You'll probably need to experiment to achieve the desired result.

One thing i really hate about silk screening is... when you put the emulsion on...burn the screen..than washout..and there be a minor problem and you have to redo everything..like i know thats all part of silk screening but i just wish it would come out perfect on the first try..maybe in the perfect world..lol
But how much you think I should pay a local silk screening shop to burn the screen for me? Like I really don't have the time to be redoing the screen..Really dont have time...what do you think a reasonable price would be? (A price for one and a price for about 10 to get done at the same time)

I think 20-40 would fair- the plain screen is almost 25.00. Never really had someone bring me a coated screen to burn- always have to give up one of mine's.

If you've got a shop in mind, ask them what mesh count they'd recommend (show them the art), then take the appropriate screen to them, uncoated, and let them coat, shoot and wash it out. If you take a coated screen, then they have to do test exposures, unless they just happen to use your exact emulsion and coating technique.

Okay so I found someone to make me a screen, it cost me $25 and the guy said he can press the shirts for me for 3.25 shirt...do you think Im getting over charged? Im providing the shirts now but he said in the future i can get shirts for $8 including the print...(shirts are AA)...does all this seems reasonable?
He only doing a run of 20-30 shirts
I have my own equipment but im in the process of moving my studio and I lack the expensive equipment he has (especially when it comes to curing b/c i only have a heat gun)
