Epson 7600/9600
Hello! I am about to purchase an Epson 9600, and I am looking at having it shipped freight. I know a lot of people use the 7600 and 9600 for screen printing, and I am just wondering what needs to be done to lock these printers down for transport? Thanks!

Re: Epson 7600/9600 They should be emptied of ink and the head locked down.
If the inks are still in the cartridges can siphon out.
They are pretty robust beasts though.

Re: Epson 7600/9600 There should be a green tab sticking out of the printer head carriage (on the left side) on most of the 4XX0 / 7XXO / 9XX0 printers. (Not 100% sure on the two models that you mentioned though). If the head is over the capping station, you can push the green tab in and it will help secure the print head over the capping station. Do this no matter what. Then you should get the metal piece with the wing nuts to lock the print head securely. Try to ship the printer in the original box. If you don't have it, see if there is any local Epson resellers that might have an empty box that you can buy. Well worth the extra cost because you don't want the printer to show up in pieces. Absolutely ship it via freight and get the insurance.
Best wishes with the new printer.

Re: Epson 7600/9600 $1200 is approximately what one could expect to pay for a 9600 now if they get a good price. I've seen them go for $800 on a lucky day. 7600's go for about the same, a little lower, say, $500 - $1000. Then there's the 4000, which is actually quite a bit better printer than the other two, just smaller, and it goes for about $500 on the top end. That's what I paid for mine, more than I wanted to, but when I saw the condition of it I couldn't pass it up. It's been a great printer, I just need it's big brother so I can do all over prints.
