Hi all,
Merry Christmas!! Happy Holidays!!
We have a client with 6 different volleyball teams--they are using the same 1 color logo, but want the different teams to be in different colored ink. Can I wash the screen between teams and reuse it for a different color (I hope!! I'm a cheapo!!)
thanks,
michelle
Sure can . . . I do color changes all of the time. Scrape off most of the ink and use a degreaser wipe off the screen and much you can then wash with the water hose. Most of the time you are able to clean off while on the press so you don't have to re-register.
I have a customer that orders about 20 different color shirts and wants at less 10 different color prints with the same logo. Its a pain is the arse. but I charge for color change. $$$
Make sure your screens are well exposed. This will make sure your cleaner will not attack the emulsion. Like the post said above, remove as much ink as possible then clean with ink remover top and bottom of the screen. (NOT emulsion remover). Wipe down with a dry, clean, lent free rag after cleaning and you're ready for the next color..... Also... check you tape. Sometimes the cleaner will open up areas where you taped. (Reg marks/ screen border)
Hope this helps.

You are getting conflicting advice here, so be careful.
If you are using plastisol ink, then don't use water to clean your screen. You must use a screen cleaner that is specific to plastisol ink. Water will not clean plastisol from your screen.
If you are using waterbased ink, then you can use water or a screen cleaner that is specific to that ink.
