Default Screen printing, single colour, home-made press help please! (photos included)

Hey guys,

I need advice on how best to utilise the setup I currently have.

As can be seen I have a jig and a tshirt board which are both seperate. I only use the jig when I have more than one tshirt of one design to do but im having trouble keeping the screen registed, also taking the old tshirt off and putting the new one on, how do I know i've put it in the extact place as the last tshirt (does that make sense?).

Is there any tips or tricks that could help me? If I haven't explained myself properly please let me know and I'll try to go into more detail.

Thanks :-)

Whereabouts in Australia are you Emma?

To stop the Tee moving you can get some contact adhesive (spray on from Spotlight, Cheap as Chips, $2 Shop etc)

I must be missing something but, Shoudn't there be a gap between the platen and the bottom board?

Excuse my ignorance but what's a platen?

What I was meaning as the jig is not screwed to the board (what I have come to beleive is the norm)

I'm in Murwillumbah (bout 40mins south of the Gold Coast).

I use contact adhesive, not having a problem with the t-shirts moving it's more with the jig etc.

The platen is the jig that you have. IMO I would try to make the jig like on the video that Nick showed you. in short the jig should be screwed on to the bottom board, as this would stop it moving around while printing,it should also have a higher gap to help you better place your shirt.
