Default How to print designs like this....?

Hello

I am on the verge of diving into the world of screen-printing and have a number of designs. I am aiming to print designs with fading, light grey colours, similar to the 2 examples I have attached.

I have no idea how to accomplish the effect with a standard screen set-up.

If anyone has any idea how the 2 examples were done, then any information on the process would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks for your time.

You aren't familiar with separations?

The artwork is separated via computer seps / Rip software then outputted onto film.

Afterwards, you burn the screens and setup the screens on press to be printed like any other silkscreening job.

I think there's a very good chance the first one was printed on the inside of the shirt, then turned inside out. Alternatively, you could thin the inks down considerably. Screenprinting is about experimentation - especially if you're trying to do something out of the ordinary. If you can learn to print, you can learn to print those designs.

I've done plenty of silkscreened designs that look like that... and yes, you can dilute paint to "add" to the effect but ultimately, good separations is the key.

I'd simply mix percentages of colors carefully in the computer separations and output film with small halftones or "bitmaps" burned on 305 mesh screens... and any decent screenprinter should be able to print a shirt looking like that with no special instructions.

You can always experiment with paint while printing, but if color percentages are poorly mixed in the computer seps, diluting inks/paints on press wont help much.
