Default Using same artwork on youth small to 2XL

I just finished a job putting a logo on shirts from Youth small to 2XL. I didn't think it would look good to put the same size logo on both so I made a screen for the smaller size shirts (Ysmall to Large) and one for the larger shirts (XL to 2XL). I wouldn't want to do that for every job,
what do most screen printers do? Is it possible to come up with a size logo that looks good on all the shirts?

I use the same size logo if it will fit on a youth shirt and look good.

I think its safer to be large on a youth size than small on a XL size

I think if you are asking if we use two sizes of graphic for the youth smalls then go with it until 2XL. Usually its kind of an eyeball. I am about 60/40. 60% of the time I make a smaller graphic for youth to adult SM. Then 40% of the time I go with the same size for all the shirts. Ask yourself if this is a one-time shot. The little effort to make another screen is nothing compared to losing a lot of return business and make sure you tell the customer so they will be impressed with your dedication to making there shirts look good for each application. Most of the time the little extras reap great rewards.

One thing I do is fold/bag most of my orders. This is relatively easy and makes a great impression. Also...you do realize you can screen print the outside of the box you deliver them in correct? I purchase boxes from uline and then you can screen print there logo on the sides...makes for a great show and is very impressive!! Also, keep a few tote bags around and make a tote bag to send with the order. This is a marketing secret I have adopted and has helped me sell hundreds of tote bags!!

We have gotten away with printing a 10" wide design on shirts from youth XS thru adult XXL. It looks really big on the youth XS and small on the adult XXL, but I let the customer make the call on whether they want to pay for any extra set of screens. Each order is different depending on the quantity of each size of shirt.
I also like the previous poster's idea of printing a tote bag. Great advertising concept at a very small cost.

I think it's worth the extra effort to make two screens too. I guess sometime you could get by with just one size but not on everything. I saw some shirts a club was wearing and the logo was the same size on all the shirts, it really didn't look good on the smaller sizes. Thanks for all your comments. I felt like I was doing the best thing but I'm very new at screen printing so it's good to hear what other printers think. Thanks again.

I give my customers the option of paying for an extra set of screens if they want to. They usually just prefer to use one set though. My recomendation to my customers depends on which group the shirts are really for. Let's say the shirts are for a 1st grade class with just a few adult sizes thrown in, I would recommend a smaller image to look best on the majority of shirts.

I agree that a larger image on the youth shirts is better than a small image on the bigger shirts in most cases.
