Unhappy Can I dye a t-shirt that's been screen-printed??

Hello hello:

I had a run of white burnout tops, and blue burnout tops screen-printed with a design, which I can hardly see. Now my printer won't re-do it, so I wanted to see what my options were.

The white burnout has a peach design printed, which is too light to see, and the blue top has a turquoise design printed.

I wanted to know if I could possibly dye these tops and sell them as samples, to get rid of stock, or would I have to get them reprinted (it's not so cheap)!!

The material is 50% cotton, 50% poly, and the screens were printed with water-based ink.

Thank you so much!

How many shirts are there?

Dyeing shirts correctly is not cheap. Since the designs are basically invisible, why not either

1) print a slighter larger, darker version of the same design over the one that is on the shirt. Or

2) print another one of your designs on the shirts that would cover the design that is there.

Dyeing them would definitely be more expensive than reprinting them.

Ok got it! Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, would you or anyone else know what would happen if I did dye the entire garment?

Dyeing is pretty unpredictable. Sorry, that's not much of a help, but it's true.

If you took the shirts to a dye house they might be able to give you a better idea.
