Hi, is anyone out there using an Epson R1800 with all 8 cartridges of black dye ink? Ryonet has a BlackMax system, but only for the 1400. I investigated the FastInk system, but you would have to have some sort of cartridges in place for the other 7 slots in the printer. I just bought the printer and it did not come with any factory inks (refurb, and I guess they decided to pull my ink out of the box.) So, since I am starting from scratch, I thought I might as well go with the black dye inks and Accurip software that will direct the printer to pull black ink from all cartridges. Anyone using this setup? I have to call a NY company on Monday to get the cartridges for the 1800 shipped, can't find them anywhere else. So, any input would be helpful. Thanks, sorry so wordy.
I use the 1800. I got the bulk system from screenprinters.net and works great. I don't have rip just ask the sales rep for 2 bottles of ink, put ink in all the bottles and you are good to go.
Hey Feral,
How did that work out for you?
Pls post your latest experience about this problem.
I tested the Accurip software with the Epson 1800 and after running out art under different settings, achieved good films. The software will not work printing from the roll of film though, so I'm having to cut off pieces and print as sheets. They say it's not good to print from a roll anyway due to stretching which I get, but I sure would like to have that option for certain jobs. The ink I bought from them too, (8 black ink dye cartridges, $$$!) but it seemed like an unusual process. Hope they last a long time. I still have not found it anywhere else. TJ says Ryonet has it, but I've talked to them and they don't have the blackmax system for the 1800, I'll take an item number if I'm wrong...
I also ran some halftones with the accurip and they seem good too, using advice from this forum, elliptical dot (wouldn't have thought of that one), 55 line screen, etc. Good stuff here, thanks all.
'All Black Bulk Ink' $195 per set for the 1800
doesn't sound very cost effective.
It's cheaper than the FastInk I've been using.
Question, I've been using an R1800 for about a year, running FastInk in 1 cartridge only. The other 7 have empty cartridges that I use a chip resetter. Can somebody tell me what the chances are I could actually get those 7 printheads flowing again? Do the heads clog after such a long time of no ink flowing through them?

I'm concerned about you having problems printing roll film with AccuRIP. I can print roll film on my R1800.
I don't like printing roll film on an R1800 because the transport system is not as strong wide models, BUT, if you un-spool the film it will not pull off the roll and it will always have the same drag.
