I have read the other posts relating to this thread, but still have a few questions....
I went to a screen printing course and learnt heaps, but would like to know how you have a dark room, wash area, printing area, drying area in one room? i was planning on building a light box, exposing at night, and washing out in the garden. Am i on the right track? Are there any other simple ways of drying screens than with a hair dryer and do you just iron your prints to cure them??
I dry screens in a closet. Wash out in the bathroom tub/shower. Expose during the day with the windows wide open and had no ill effects. However, I'm quick about it and don't dilly dally as I have a system that puts the film in the same spot on a screen every time. I build a jig for it, so there's no guess work. Grab film, line up marks on film to marks on screen, tape to screen, put on exposure unit, weight down, set time, walk away, come back and wash out. Takes about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes tops. Sometimes when I gang a screen I will draw the blinds however just for a little more aligning time. If you're worried about seeing, get a spot light (the aluminum domed shape ones) and stick a yellow bug light in it. The emulsion isn't affected by the yellow light spectrum.
As for drying...I coat at least a day ahead before exposing. Although dry to the touch, the emulsion can still be wet in the core and create exposure problems. To aid in drying I don't use a fan, because fans = pinhole makers, kicking up dust onto my drying screens. I just coat, put in my dark closet and keep the dehumidifier going. Empty the water collected often. When I dry screens after washing out, I use a small shop vac to suck out the remaining moisture, but just be gentle when doing so, as sometimes you can abrade the mesh fibers causing them to wear faster than normal. They dry in a snap.
Hope that's helpful to somebody.

Thanks guys for your replies. Every bit of information is helpful. I am interested in how you cure Trimere_ink?
I actually went on eBay and bought a flash dryer for about $289 or so. I believe it was from Logos Screen Printing...eBay name: logossp
and that works absolutely great for me. I knew for a fact though that I was going to get into this business and do volume, so I bought what I believed to be the best tool for me. Beats having to blow dry every shirt essentially, when I can just place it under the dryer and print another shirt and usually by the time I did that the first one was cured and then so on and so forth. The only problem I have now is that I got so good at printing, I print too fast and have to wait about 10-15 seconds for the print to cure. LOL But I don't have the $ or the space right now for a conveyor dryer. The dryer paid for itself on the first job. Now if I can finish paying off the other stuff... I'd be all set.

I screenprint in my flat in madrid (my flatmate was worried about it but I offered him some free tees and print a custom design for him so he's a happy fella now)
I taped down a room of my flat with some sun reflecting material and it works fine.
I coat, dry, expose and print in that room. (I hooked up two light systems yellow and normal for coating and printing)
for cleaning I just use my shower and I have quite a powerful water pressure so I made up a small pinhole shower end to get a pressurewasher-like output of water.
for exposing I've got a 500 W normal halogen lamp (I expose about 13 mins)
I use my oven for the curing process and get my sister to help me out
the little room is really crowded but I'm doing fine.
good luck and believe me you'll find a solution to every problem thanks to this forum it's not that tough.
Thanks for your suggestions. Ragees.... Its good to know that its possible and that it works. I am defently learning heaps from this site. Its also interesting to see they different ways people do things. I am also in a flating situation and they have been very supportive, although i think they have quite a few designs in mind for themselves!!
