need help asap! - how to combat ink cracking on stretchy t-shirts using wb inks got all my stuff together after leaving this printing job to the last minute and ive just realised the shirt ive got is really stretchy :O
it says 100% cotton i think its stretchy because of the way it was made so getting the ink to stick shouldn't be too big a problem
but i know for sure as soon as the shirt is stretched a little bit the whole print will be cracked and turn horrible
anyway to combat this problem? such as stretching the shirt then printing onto it?
btw im using water based inks on it
help needed asap because i need to print tonight!

Re: urgently need help asap! my suggestion is to call your ink manufacturer about a stretch additive.
better to make a customer wait an extra day or two than hand them bad product, i believe.
Perhaps some water-based printers out there will chime in with a better idea...

Re: urgently need help asap! I haven't seen waterbased inks crack...so it shouldn't be a problem. One thing to take note when placing the shirt on the platen, is to not stretch the shirt, softly lay the shirt and smooth out the print area without stretching the shirt.

Re: need help asap! - how to combat ink cracking on stretchy t-shirts using wb inks Low quality, opaque waterbased inks will crack, especially if not cured properly. Try Matsui. They make a white WB that stretches very well. I buy it from Westix out in California, give them a call at 800-741-3887 and ask them about it.
It's not going to solve your problem today, but it would be good to use in the future.
