Hello, my name is Jason and I am curious if my images (done on Photoshop) are screen printable (the colors, details, size etc.) Also, where do I go from here? Do I bring these images to a screen printer? Any suggestions as to what reputable company could screen print my work. I greatly appreciate any help! Thank you.
Absolutely. They look pretty crisp, not sure if the women in the first one are compound shapes or not, but look around for threads by ImageIt, he explains pretty well how to separate PS images for screening.
The second photo is small, but it looks like it could be done without too much problem.
You are looking at 4-6 color printing, depending on the shirt color, underbase, etc.
The printer would need to have large/oversized platens, more than likely.
You would have a hard time finding an image that couldnt be screenprinted with the right knowledge..
Thanks for the quick response! So you are saying I would have to separate each color of each image? For example: the lavender shirt with the four "wolf girls." Each girl is a different color (black, dark grey, light grey, and white.) So you are saying I would need to bring a file to a printer with four different colored wolf girls and then explain how it should look? I'm sorry, I am a total rookie. And thanks for your help.
Depending on how the screenprinter wanted to do it, yes. It could be done with just black and white using halftones for the grays, also, which is a different separation process in PS, slightly more involved.
If you bring the original PS file to a printer, they should be able to separate it how they want, but expect to pay more in art fees.
images that size on women's apparel are best done in a soft water base ink. just give your file to your screen printer and they will separate. your art looks pretty good. this is the type of printing i specialize in. stan
Thats the thing Stan, I don't have a printer (any suggestions). All of my designs are very large, not all over the shirt, but cover most of the front. I would love to have all of my shirts done in water based ink because I have heard the colors are better and the inks contain less chemicals. And how much does it cost for a screen printer to separate colors/other fees? Also Stan, you mentioned that this is the type of printing you do. Maybe you can help me?
