Default foil printing (new) - how to best cure the adhesive for foil prints

hi all,

Recommended I post in this section

Am about to start messing around with heatpressing or more specifically, foil printing and need some guidence.

I have the adhesive which will be placed on the garment via screenpressing. What exactly is the next stage? I have heard you dry the adhesive with a flash dryer at say 110 degrees which will not fully cure. If this is correct, how long for?

Then, placing the foil onto the garment, further heatpress at 180 degrees to fully cure. Again, if this is correct for how long?

Btw, I am using waterbased adhesive. Also, how quickly should i wash out the screens with the adhesive or can I leave it for a bit?

Cheers

The adhesive air dries - you don't need to flash it. The adhesive shouldn't be left in the screens long, it will dry up. I'm not sure how long you need to press the foil for... I haven't used it enough to refine the process, and I tend to just wing it. Not long though. If there weren't instructions with the foil or the adhesive, just experiment with time. In my experience it has a very forgiving range.
