Default Anybody use craigslist or ebay to solicit new business in your area ?

Is anyone out there successful using Craigslist or Ebay to solicit business in your City?
I have posted locally several times. I get lots of email questions, but no bites yet. I think that it is the other shops picking my brain.

Craigslist is good if you're buying stuff, but if you're selling I've found that it is generally a big waste of time.

I have had some minor success on craigslist but the fees on EBay are to much for me. Craigslist is a good way to get your name out there not to mention that their ads do great on search engines so if you word your add correctly it can gain you great web presence. And it's free so you have nothing to loose

ebay fees have become rediculous...

I have had luck on both Ebay and Craigslist... not piles of orders, but the occasional job

I've tried eBay, cost me a lot in fees and because there was so much competition from the big listers I got no hits, just a waste of time and money if you ask me. I have had a few inquiries from Craigs List, but no hits yet.

I've had reasonable luck getting work through craigslist. But it involves posting on a regular basis so you stay at the top of the list.

I've only landed one big job though. Most others are small but it at least gets your name out there if you market it well.

i've never tried ebay. i've gotten a few decent jobs from craigslist, but the last time i posted someone, i'm assuming another printer, kept flagging my post. i haven't jacked with it since.

I have begun to post on Craigs list under small business ads.. A few inquirys for small jobs but nothing closed yet. Most have been small order requests.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for information on HTML coding for Craigs List? I would like to make my ad's more professional than the text version. From what I have found out so far Craigs List is quirky on what HTML the accept.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Have posted on CL and there are a lot of phony product and service seekers out there. I believe they were simply just shoppers trying to get info from me. The care I take tho after some trials and tribulations is I won't spend the money it takes to make money, unless I know for a "fact" they are serious about what they are asking me to quote. Basically, taking a deposit and having the customer agreeable to that deposit, shows their committment to the busienss transaction. If a deposit is not ok with them, then the job is not worth your time or the effort you will take to complete it. More times than not, someone asking to bypass a deposit or to just have the job done and they will pay for it, has an agenda to be weary of. Thanks!

I've done CL and ebay. basically CL is a bunch of tire kickers. I came up with an idea for a shirt, made one and put it on ebay showing I had a lot to buy. If it goes, great print more. If not, oh well.
