Hi guys i am just starting to get all the equiptment i need to start a small screenprinting studio.

All my prints will be from my own artwork and i will hopefully be printing on a 6/4 press.

So far though i have only got my computers (1 for art and one for business) and my scanner and a3 lightbox.

The next thing i want to get this week is my printer.
Ive heard a lot of people say that its important that you have the best quality negatives to print and so i dont wanna cut corners on the printer and get something that sucks.

however there are wayyyyy too many printers out there. Im pretty sure i wanna get an epson but im not sure what one to get. Ive set aside a budget of around £400 which i assume is like $750.

Can anyone give me some advice as to what printer i should be looking.

Hey Jace,

Look into the HP 9800. You can pick one up for about $200 new. I use one every day for printing positives with and without halftones using ghostscript. Works great for me.

The epson 1400 works great for me. Prints upto 13x19 nice and dark on Kimoto film. I thinks it's around the $200-250 mark.

I also have the epson 1400 and have been happy.

it really seems that you cant go wrong with the 9800 either. both printers seem to get rave reviews and are right around the $250 mark.
