Default Four Color Press, Multi Color Designs

Do you have to have a four color press in order to do multi color designs??

a four color press allows you to register four screens. each screen can be a different color or additive or underbase or clearcoat, etc...

i say yes. otherwise you could use a single head press and put multiple inks on the same screen.

if you're making the investment, i'd shoot for a 6 or 8 color, if you can afford it. you'll find a 4 color becomes limiting very fast.

It's the only reliable and time efficient way to do it. You could print on a table and set up pin registration (a nuisance), or if you don't need the design to be tightly registered you could print on a one colour machine one colour at a time - but in that case you should expect variances of up to even a couple of inches in print location (significantly less if you want to put the time in, but still non-zero).

On the other hand, the short answer is yes.
