Default Dischargable Sweatshirts

Need hooded sweatshirts that will DISCHARGE.

I have a partial list started of dischargable garments. Anyone else have a list, or partial list of dischargeable garments? Could someone then post it on this site for others to add to?

No one's compiled a list that I know of. I started a thread a while ago that got some discussion going about what discharges well and what doesn't.
Contact your distributor and ask if certain sweatshirts are dyed with "reactive dye." That is what is able to be discharged. Keep in mind that a lot of sweatshirts and hoodies aren't 100% cotton. I've discharged hoodies a couple times for my own, with various success, and I did a run of 60 American Apparel black hoodies with white discharge and they came out great. I think they are 100% cotton.

You are correct about the type of dye used but the garment does not have to be 100% cotton. I have discharged satisfactorily on certain blends (although it is only the cotton that changes color). We've contacted suppliers and even manufacturers. Everyone says, "You'll just have to test the item -- and the color you want to use." That's what we've done in the past. I'm just surprised that NO ONE has posted a list somewhere of what they've already tested. Once we're done with this next batch of tests, I'll see about posting what I know... Thanks for your input.

If you search you can find my thread about discharge results. Feel free to revive it with your findings, and I'll update it with whatever I come up with in the meantime.

And yeah, I meant only the cotton discharges, of course. So a black 80/20 won't discharge as bright as a black 100% cotton, generally.

Discharge is fickle.

Can you post your list here so others can add to it? That's usually how lists get started

Like the one I started about t-shirts with tear away tags: http://www.t-shirtforums.com/wholesa...ts/t51133.html

I think the Comfort Colors line of t-shirts and sweatshirts are good for discharge. I seem to remember them advertising that fact on their website.

You could also call or email the folks at Independent Trading Company and see if their sweatshirts are good for discharge: Sweatshirts : Wholesale Sweatshirts
