Default Purchasing Automated Equipment

We are in negotiations with M & R Print in purchasing their Sportsman E with dryer, flash, tri-loc, and misc. Is there any room for moment with the price? They are offering a 5% discount right off the bat but I was wondering if there is any greater discounts when purchasing $90 worth of equipment.

take the 5% and try for some free upgrades or extras, they have some wiggle room on those. platens are very expensive, see what they can do on your specialty platens.

plattens aren't really a concern you can buy aftermarket that will fit an M&R press. Two things I would consider is the amount of of print stations and the amount of colors. If you have a 6 color auto.. you will kick yourself for not going bigger. I would also look at getting an additional flash.

If so, then the 5% disc will probably be it. M&R is very good equipment, and they don't have to discount. I learned that lesson years ago when I was shopping for an auto press. The only reason I did not go for the M&R was because they had to charge the 9% sales tax for my area, and all other equip, mfgs were not charging any sales tax (it would be my responsibility to remit the tax). I went with another brand, and was a big mistake. Don't nickel & dime here....it's just too much of an investment.

Really have to be careful on used equipment. The above mentioned post for $12K was a really GREAT deal, provided the equipment is in fairly decent shape.
Back in July 2005 We purchased what was supposed to be a "fully refurbished" auto from a established S/P equipment dealer on the East Coast, and once we received it, had constant registration issues. Got a factory tech in, and found out that 3 of the pallet support arms had been cut off & re-welded on incorrectly, plus many parts were worn & in need of replacement. The "refurbished" turned out to be nothing more than a new paint job. The only thing that saved this dealer from a lawsuit was Hurricane Katrina came in and sent this "well-used" auto press to it's final demise under 6' of water, and the insurance co. paid off, so problem was solved....luckly dealer.

I'll tell you one thing, that's a hell of a set-up. Don't think twice.
