I've read a couple of guides regarding the ideal placement of designs, but I am having some trouble getting my first shirt design to look right once printed.

The design is about 7inches x 7inches, a shield with stuff inside, with wispy lines protruding.

I did a couple at 2 fingers from the collar and it looked too high. Can't afford any more test shirts, gotta make it work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ideal its about three to four inches from the collar.

I use 4 to 5 inches from the collar as well. Go down another 1" +/- for 2X and 3X.

well i usually do 2 1/2 inches down from collar or hold the shirt by the armpits and let it fold in half then fold the shirt in half the other way and pinch that is where the middle of yer design should fall unless you are doing a pocket logo then i do 2 1/2 down from collar and using the shoulder seam and collar as your gide you want the center of the design to fall approximately certer of that seam

Four fingers down from the bottom of the collar, to the top of the design, that's my guide, and I think it's a fairly common standard.

I do about 6 - 6 1/2 inches down from the seam at the shoulder and about 3 inches over from the armpit to 3 1/2
