will a black design with red accents look bad screen printed on a black t-shirt?
i was talking to print screener today and i told him that i had a 2 color design that i wanted to put on a black shirt, its black with red accents and it has a red outline. he told me it wouldnt show up nice on the shirt?
is this true or is this his opinion because in my head i think a black design with a red outline would look pretty BA lol.
usually putting black on black does nothing for the look of the design. What about a one color with just the red outline. Let the shirt show through where you were going to have black ink.

what if it was done with plastisol transfer cuz that tends to have a little shine to it right? or no? lol

Not really. Although there are ways to get a shine if that is what you want by using the cold peel method on transfers.
But look, if you want the black ink there, then do it. The worst that would happen is it would look like the shirt. The best that could happen is it would have a shine like you want.

i am just uneducated lol, i dont care about the shine =P but thanks for the info. so in reality there is no point in doing 2 colors?
but do you think the red will show up fine cuz he was advocating a white outline around the red lol

well, he was probably telling you that the red would have to have a white underbase, which is true. Printing red directly on black would come out dull. So you first print a layer of white, then a layer of red on top of the white. It would not be a white outline. If done right, you won't see the white at all.

does the white underbase go for the plastisol transfers as well? like would a 2 color plastisol transfer really be considered a 3 color because a white underbase is needed? sorry for all the questions

Yes, would work the same way if you were putting them on darks. Transfer makers have a different price for transfers going on light colored garments vs. dark colored ones due to the extra coating of white ink that is necessary. It would not necessary be a charge based on 3 colors, but it could.
