Default Is this a good deal to get shirts screenprinted?

Hi everybody. I went to my local screen printing shop today to get a quote on a shirt design. I'm wanting to start an internet store and begin selling shirts and instead of doing the printing myself I'd rather just outsource the work, supporting the local economy at the same time.
So I went and the job I want done is as follows:
-Requires 3 screens, screen prep is $10 per screen
-Minimum order of 24 shirts: and for white shirts it is $8 per shirt (cheaper if I provide my own, which I will probably do because I can get some good deals at the craft store)
-
So for 24 shirts with 3 screens I'm looking at around $225 (I think that includes tax).
So that boils down to about $9.37 per shirt, so I'd have to sell at $18 plus S&H to make good profit.

Is this a good deal to get shirts printed?

i wouldnt say its a great deal. but its not horrible. The more shirts you make the cheaper the cost comes down. also getting 3 color jobs and low quanity of shirts will be really $ no matter where you go.

How large is the design. Plastisol prints you do not have to pay screen charges. 3 color for 11 x11 prints from ace is $151.20 then the shirts are about $1.30or 31.20so that is $182.40. Now that is full size prints 11 x 11. if you can get more on the sheet like 2 then you could get 2 on a sheet then your cost goes to $147.60. And the rest goes in your pocket.

but then he'd have to buy a heat press.

it's higher than my price, but i don't think it's outrageous either.

The cost is built in, you still pay for them.

Lou is right, white shirts only cost $1.30 or so. So I would find out from your guy how much without the shirts and then
come back to us.

We just paid $1.17 last week for Gildan 5000 whites at TSC. I sure miss the prices last summer when I was buying white tees for .97. Thats over 20% inflation on those.

they pretty much all have this price on special. Broder has some manufacturer on sale every week for this price or less. These are 6.1 oz heavyweights too. Lighter ones are even less.

My local craft stores sells t-shirts, jackets, sweaters, etc. And they're really cheap. Sometimes you can get shirts 3 for a dollar. It's really cheap. And they're all various colors, so you can mix and match how many you want.

If you are using these to sell to customers, be careful. Cheap tees like this do not hold up well after washings and it will impact you negatively.

There are also a few other way sto lower pricing in slik screen printing, providing the designwork to avoid any extra typesetting fee's, also alot of slik screen printers may have an overstock of a custom ink close to the color you may find a close match to your colors. Finding out what color T's is a main factor also dark t's will have a white base printed on shirt first then your colors after that. Also shop around and ask alot of question
