Does Anyone Know The Best Emulsion To Use With Discharge Ink?? I Have Tried A Few Now, And They All Seem To Break Down During Print Runs....
Is Thier Something I Am Missing Here??
What discharge are you using? We use Matsui discharge which is waterbased and the emulsion we use is Saatichem Textile DW. It's a water resistent emulsion. I suspect if your screen is breaking down maybe you are using an emulsion designed for use with plastisol. We use it as it comes but some people recommend using an emulsion hardener for discharge. We have not needed it with this one.
I use Ulano QT-Discharge and I think it works very well.
Phillip, Matt at Westix sent me a pint of that Murakami emulsion, but I haven't tried it yet. Do you have to use a stencil hardener to keep the screen alive for 200 prints? And if so, does that make reclaiming a pain? Matt said I would need to harden the screen for like 50+ prints.
Yeah, I do harden it for longer runs. But it is completely reclaimable. In fact, I haven't even noticed that it's really an more difficult to reclaim. Works great!

Phillip-
I just bought a new gallon of Ulano QT-Discharge but I'll try that Aquasol whenever I run out of this gallon. For the first time yesterday I had a lot of pinholes develop during a short run, first time that's happened with the QT discharge...
i use qt discharge by ulano, seems great. i noticed screen hardener keeps tape from sticking. phillip did you try gen4 yet? the sample of white they sent me was cr@p. wasn't the same white i used in nov. that was the first time i've had to use screen opener, what a disappointment. stan

Hey Stan,
No. I've been begging for the sample for months. They aren't in any hurry to help out, that's for sure.
I did go to a seminar on it, and I saw the same problem there! The screen was clogging. Not good for sales. lol. I think they changed the formulation altogether. In the beginning they were claiming lower cure temps, but now they've become quiet about that.
I'm wondering if that's why I don't have samples too. I'll bet they're having more problems with it than they want to admit.
It's a good thing I still have Matsui for lights.
