Default mens sized prints on ladies????

about to run my next series of designs and was curious if i should just run the same sized screen on both the mens and ladies shirts

right now i have designed with a 15x20 size.....

my printer said that i should do 8x10 for the ladies stuff....

i really dont want to pay for additional screens just for a smaller graphic..... so would the 15x20 be toooo large to fit on a ladies shirt?????

i like the larger prints anyways..... just want to know what everyone else sort of does....

i can scale down a little if needed....but i'd rather fill up a shirt....

suggestions????

thanks
b

15x20 is huge. They may be using smaller platens on the press for women's shirts than for doing full prints of men shirts, and in that case 15x20 may be too big to even fit on a small women's shirt? Ask your printer if he could fit the oversized art on a small women's shirt if you really want to keep the huge size.

Guess it depends on the size of the shirt and if it will look good. If it fits and looks good then I dont see why not. I can fit a sheer ladies small onto a 16X20 Pallet but wouldnt do anymore than that because it will stretch out the shirt too much. The print might crinkle the shirt too if you stretch it out then print on it, so when it shrinks back to regular size the design looks a little funny.

If you have parts of the design you can do without, let the design fall off the edge of the shirt. Or if you don't care about shrinking/skewing the image, let the image wrap around the shirt a bit. Make sure most of the shirt stretching occurs below the platen, and allow the print area to relax a bit. This kind of printing usually works better on very stretchy, soft shirts.
