Default Curing waterbased inks questions!

I am seeking a definite answer and specific information on curing waterbased inks. I have available to me a flash unit, an older heat press, and a household iron and I am wondering if I could get an adequate cure so I can sell them. I am seeking specific times and or temperatures that need to be reached. I would be very thankful for any help you can provide.

It depends on the manufacturer. Which brand do you intend on using?

I am a kid in highschool so unfortunately I only have the speedball brand available to me currently. I've been reading alot of the forums here and it seems like everyone who does waterbased frequently swears by Matsui

Matsui recommends a conveyor dryer, not a flash. Although there are posts here from folks who have used a flash with Matsui and it turned out fine.

With speedball, they recommend a home iron, so using your heat press should be fine. They should have instructions on the bottle or their website for temp. and time.

silkscreeningsupplies just started selling Matsui at around $20 a quart.

However you do it, do some sample wash tests to make sure your gear is ready for prime time.

matsui sells "fixers" that allows for low temp. drying. there is fixer N for wash fastness on inks and fixer F for the discharge system. these must be some sort of catalyst as they give the ink a "pot life". wish someone would give me a pot life. no hand stan, the water base man!

That's why I hate catalysts. Once you mix it, you lose it if you don't use it.
