What color shirt & color ink? Was there the "bleeding" before or after you dried the shirt? What ink & mesh are you using?

When I first started I had the same problem. If you dont have a lot of shirts to do I would keep cleaning the back side of the screen(you will be able to see where the ink has flooded outside the stencil) and lightly flood the screen, but if you do have alot to do I would burn the image in a higher mesh screen. What screen mesh are you using?

And are you using a screen press with your screen off-contact from the platen?
