Does anyone here make their own heat transfers using plastisol ink? I have a customer that asks for a couple dozen shirts a few times a year and I was thinking if I made transfers it would be quicker than setting up a print job every time. I looked on youtube for some videos on how to make them and didn't find anything...(which doesn't mean they aren't there

Go to M & M DESIGNS | HOME; they produce transfers in small quantities. Also, depending on what color shirts you're printing on, you could make your own transfers. All you would need is the transfer paper, print image backwards, and run thru dryer just enough to tack dry the ink, but not fully cure. We used to make heat transfers for foam front caps, and it worked well.

I'd like to try to make my own. Did you use a vacuum pallet when you made yours? I read there was a product to sprinkle on the ink before curing.

The vacuum pallet is nice. You could make your own. A drill, couple peices of plexigalss and a shop vac...

Pallet adhesive that you would use for a shirt will also stick transfer paper to your platen. Just do not use too much...

If you want to make your own transfers you need to use stuff called Hot melt Powder you apply to the plastisol before you put it in the dryer. You also have to make sure that it is not fully gelled the heat should be at 280 and make sure you get heat transfer paper. Every time you print a color you have to dry it.
