I replaced my black ink cartridge today and now my printer wants to print junk, random ascii characters. I keep feeding it the same paper over and over hoping that it will finish so i can print some films? I've tried reseting it, unplugging it, cancelling everything in the queue in windows...
Does anyone know how to flush the jobs from the printer directly?
Help!

Try powering the printer off. Disconnect from the PC. Power back on and see if it has stopped printing. Make sure there is nothing in the print que of PC. If all is well then power off, reconnect to PC and power back on. I hope this helps.

Unplug the printer...TRY deleting the que.....if it doesnt delete...restart your computer....if the que pops up...try to delete it again.....if it doesnt...unplug the computer......I sooo hate it when that happens.....its usually because i dont have FASTRip open first...good luck

I turned it off for a few minutes and then turned it on and it behaved. I was able to print a film just fine.

I hate when it does that, especially on a film! I'm cheap so wasting ink and films (and time) burns me up.

I had this problem with an old HP printer my boss owned once. It was only printing on paper, but it would start a new page every few random characters, went through about 100 pages before he called me in. It happened again a week later and told him to get a new printer cause the drivers were crap (never seen a device requiring 10 executables be running in order to function... let alone improperly). Since then I've always given HP's a wary eye, I think they also tried to charge you to download drivers at one time too, circa 2000'ish. Unfortunately I now have some of their laser printers, but I still hate their software division!

I know we're talkin bout an epson, but had to vent!

Random ASCII characters are RAW Postscript that is not being interpreted into curves.

Once the info goes into the buffer, it keeps wanting to print until completed. You need to go into the Print Que for the printer and delete the remainder of the file.
