Re: screen printing qoute help? Seems really high to me... 20-30/film??
Also, unless you really need that large size on front and rear, I dont see what the benefit is.
I hope you are making a huge order, or I am misunderstanding something..

Re: screen printing qoute help? Around 300 first order... Prices just seem to be very high to me.
I could justify if ordering 1000 or more.

Re: screen printing qoute help? Thank god I do my own screen printing.
Cost:
Film: 20c
Screen: $20, can be re-used
Set-Up: 5 mins (..wait til screen is dry..) + 1 min (..wait 10 minute exposure time..) + 2 mins
Factor in $1 worth of emulsion, 5c for the electricity/ink used to print the film...
While my example is tongue-in-cheek, I think your hunch of the price being a bit high is probably spot on. Quite frankly, I don't understand what the setup fee is - it's either a screen fee or a setup fee, not both. And he must be outsourcing the film production to a master etcher at that price. I'd be expecting "Happy Endings" for that cost, if you know what I mean.

Re: screen printing qoute help? I usually don't comment on other screen printer's prices since everyone runs their business differently, but that is VERY high.
I think you should shop around. There are other printers that do quality work that won't kill you with screen and setup fees.

Re: screen printing qoute help? Please shop around! Everyone has different pricing for a variety of reasons. Take a look at straight contract printers and maybe not a company that is filling in press time with others work.

Re: screen printing qoute help? I think part of it is the 18" x 20" print. We could not do that on our automatic and would have to on our manual.

Re: screen printing qoute help? Thats a huge print, but yeah seems high,
I would say check out other printers. OR give him another chance to lower his price. IF a client comes back after a quote and offers to go elsewhere, I may be inclined to convince them to stay!
Cheers
