Manipulate Organic Cotton I was in Barney's the other day and was intrigued by some 100% organic cotton t-shirts by a brand called Love & Eight.
The difference was in the texture. Unlike most organic cotton brands (e.g. Loomstate) that feature super softness, the Love & Eight t-shirts had a slight "roughness" to them that gave them a more structurally rigid and durable feel - and I like that!
My questions...
1. How did they do that? How did they manipulate the organic cotton fabric to become "less" soft? Is it just a matter of putting the garment through a special type of wash? e.g. enzyme wash, hard wash, etc.
2. Do these shirts become softer or harder after several washes? Or do they do a good job in holding onto their "in-store" integrity?
3. If anybody knows, I'd also be interested in learning all about the process of if/how organic cotton can be manipulated to give off different types of textures.
Thanks in advance! |
